Tree Service in Okanogan, WA

Okanogan is the county seat, a small town pinched between the river and steep sagebrush hills, and its shade is almost entirely a planting project from a century ago that is now coming due all at once. We are a Kelso company about seven hours west of the courthouse, which decides exactly what we can honestly offer here.

The shade over the older streets in Okanogan is not native and it did not arrive gradually. Somebody planted Siberian elm, black locust, silver maple and boxelder in a hurry, in a valley that grows sagebrush on its own. Those species did what was asked of them, and they also come apart in their last thirty years — a stretch most of them are well into now.

Our shop is in Kelso, on the wet side, roughly seven hours of driving from here. That rules us out of most of what a tree service does. For one removal, one stump, or anything urgent, a crew that lives in this valley beats us on price and on the calendar every time. That is arithmetic, not modesty.

A Town Canopy That Is Aging Out Together

Trees planted in one decade tend to fail in one decade. Siberian elm is the clearest case: fast, tough, structurally poor, with included unions and brittle wood that gives up big limbs in the first heavy wet snow. Black locust hollows from the middle while the outside still looks sound. Silver maple goes top-heavy over ground that never gave it much of a root plate.

It turns into a real problem where the tree is now larger than the space it was given — over a porch roof, along a property line, or in the strip between a sidewalk and parked cars. Taking one out is an ordinary day for anybody. Taking out eight along a block, grinding the stumps and hauling the wood is a different job, and it is the second one that justifies the drive.

Cold Is a Failure Mode We Do Not Have at Home

Trees in Kelso fail from saturation and wind. Trees here fail from load and from cold. Wet snow that lands and then freezes puts weight on a brittle crown with no way to shed it. Sunscald and frost cracking on the southwest faces of thin-barked trunks open a path for decay years before anything looks wrong from the sidewalk.

Where an owner needs that written down — for a lender, an insurer, an estate, or a disagreement with a neighbor — a documented assessment is something we will travel to do, and we write what we find rather than what sells a removal.

The River Bottom Is Its Own Kind of Work

Along the Okanogan River and up Salmon Creek the problem is rarely one tree. It is black cottonwood dropping heavy limbs across a pasture fence, willow and dogwood closing in on a ditch, and Russian olive — thorny, bird-seeded and stubborn about coming back — taking over ground that used to be open. That gets measured in days and acreage rather than stems, and it goes better in a shoulder season than squeezed into a summer week.

One Thing to Settle Before Anybody Cuts

What is allowed differs between the City of Okanogan, the county, irrigation districts and ground near the river, and those rules get revised. Confirm what applies to your parcel before you hire anyone, us included.

Every review we have was written by somebody in Cowlitz or Clark County, seven hours from here, and dressing that up as a local reputation would be the first lie on the page. What travels is the working method: the owner walks the property himself, the number comes after that, and if the drive does not pencil out for what you need, you hear it on the first call.

Okanogan Tree Service Questions

  • Only when the scope is big enough that a crew stays busy for days. A block of aging elms coming out together, a river bottom that needs clearing, a stand of hazard trees on a large parcel. On work like that the travel is a small share of the total. On a one-tree job it is most of the cost and you would be paying for our windshield time.

Fantastic local business! Ryan is quick, professional and very easy to work with. Would definitely use again. We now have views of the river and Lewis and Clark bridge right out our back door. 10/10 recommend!

Ryan was so fantastic! We had a large pine branch fall on top of our house that was lodged into the roof. After calling a few other services who were not very helpful we got ahold of Columbia Tree Prof. He answered right away and was very kind and helpful! He knew exactly what to do to help us and he was able to remove the branch within the hour! We are so thankful for his help and his generosity! We have two trees on our property that will need to be removed and we will definitely be giving our business to this company! Local, Efficient, professional, knowledgeable, Skilled. Can’t go wrong!

Mr Norris removed a huge fir tree inches away from my house in one day just as he promised. If you have a hazardous tree requiring fancy rope work and want a professional this tree service is the right pick. Really funny guy, he became a good friend and his pricing beat everyone else by a lot. Do yourself a favor and give him a call
