Tree Service in Bingen, WA
Bingen is a shelf. The town runs in a thin band along the Columbia with the mainline railroad and the highway through the middle of it and a basalt wall standing directly behind, and there is nowhere in it to simply lay a tree down.

Almost every job here is a rigging job by default. Lots are shallow, buildings sit close, the tracks are a hard no in one direction and the cliff is behind you in the other. Pieces come down on a rope in controlled sections or out over the roof on a crane. There is rarely a third option.
The Wind Here Is a Season, Not a Storm
Most of Washington gets its tree damage in a handful of violent hours each winter. Bingen sits in the narrow part of the gap where the pressure difference between the coast and the interior turns into a west wind that runs, hard, day after day from spring into fall. That is why the river below town is full of sails, and it is why trees here are shaped the way they are.
Sustained loading does something different than a single gale. Crowns flag out to the east, wood builds unevenly, and limbs fail from fatigue at the union rather than from one dramatic overload. Then in winter the cold east wind comes downriver and pushes on the side the tree never reinforced. A Bingen tree gets worked from both directions, and the ones that break are often the ones that looked settled for years.
It also changes when we work. Nobody goes up a crown and no crane hook gets loaded with the afternoon westerly running full, so jobs here are planned around early starts rather than squeezed into a convenient hour.
Talus, Basalt and What the Grinder Finds
The slope behind town is broken rock with soil filling the gaps. Trees on it — locust, oak, the odd volunteer pine — root shallow and wedge themselves in rather than anchoring deep, and when one lets go the material underneath wants to travel with it. Anything cut above a structure or above the road gets controlled the whole way down rather than dropped and gathered afterward. The same geology makes stump grinding unpredictable here: the wheel finds basalt far more often than it does at home in Cowlitz County, and we would rather say that before we start than surprise you on the invoice.
Working Around Rail, Highway and the Port
A good share of what we get called for in Bingen is not residential at all. The Bingen Point parcels, the port properties, the warehouses and the businesses fronting the highway all have trees that need clearance pruning over an entrance, a hazard dealt with before it becomes a claim, or documentation for an insurer. Those jobs need coordination, not speed: a lane or a sidewalk closed properly, work scheduled outside business hours where a chipper cannot run through a workday, and a hard understanding that nothing gets rigged toward a rail corridor or a live conductor without the right people involved first.
Two Hours From Our Shop to Your Driveway
Our shop is in Kelso, a couple of hours each way once you are off the freeway and running east on SR 14. Klickitat County is territory we serve and travel for, but on planned trips with jobs batched together, so a removal here needs more lead time than the same job in Kalama. If a neighbor needs work too, say so when you call. And if what you have is small and genuinely urgent, someone closer will serve you better — we will say that on the phone, not after the estimate.
