Tree Service in Kennewick, WA
Kennewick sits about four hours upriver from our shop in Kelso, on the dry side of the mountains and in an entirely different growing world. We come over for work with enough scope to carry the drive — several days on site, several trees, or a contract — and we say so plainly when a job does not clear that line.

Kennewick has capable tree companies of its own, and for a single removal off Clearwater or a pruning cycle in Southridge you should use one of them. We are in Kelso, roughly four hours away by road, and no amount of good intent turns that into a same-week callout for a small job.
Scope is what travels. When a job will hold a crew and equipment on site for several days — a whole stand coming out at once, a crane pick over a roof, a property manager with a portfolio of overdue work — the mileage stops being the deciding number and the work does.
Caliche Is the Thing Nobody Warns You About
Kennewick soil is wind-laid silt over a cemented lime layer, and that layer often sits closer to the surface than the canopy above would suggest. Roots reach it and turn sideways. Add the fact that nearly every tree in town is alive because of a sprinkler, and you get root plates that are shallow, wide, and concentrated wherever the water lands.
That changes how we read a lean. West of the mountains a tilted tree usually means saturated ground let go. Here it more often means the tree never had deep anchorage in the first place, and a long hot summer finally cost it the fine root it still had on the far side.
The Wind Comes Off the Horse Heaven Hills, Not Off the Ocean
The turbines on the ridge south of town are there because that wind is dependable. It comes dry and gusty across open ground from the southwest, and it lands on neighborhoods built out onto the slope with very little standing between them and it. Southridge, Creekstone and the newer stretches above Badger Canyon run out of shelter fast.
Dry wind loads a tree differently than a wet Cascade storm does. It does not soften the ground underneath; it just works a weak union back and forth until something lets go — often in July, or during a February cold snap, rather than in the middle of a rainy night.
Brittle Species on Thirty-Year-Old Subdivision Lots
The species list here is nothing like ours. Siberian elm, silver maple, black locust, green ash, honeylocust, Austrian pine and blue spruce, with poplar rows on the edges. Siberian elm and silver maple do most of the breaking. Both grow fast, both build codominant unions with included bark, and both were planted heavily because they tolerate the heat and the alkaline ground.
The other pattern is timing. A subdivision goes in, the builder plants the same tree at every address in the same season, and thirty years later a whole street reaches the end of that species within a few years of itself. That is where most of the multi-address and HOA work in Kennewick comes from, and it is the kind of job that fills a week.
What Brings Us Over the Gorge
- Multi-tree removals where a full screen or street frontage comes out together
- Crane-assisted picks on backyard-locked lots with no drag path to the street
- Commercial, HOA and property-management contracts with enough addresses to fill several days
- Stump grinding at volume, done with the removals instead of as a second trip
- Written tree risk assessments for owners who need documentation rather than a sales pitch
Travel is part of the quote and we show you where it sits rather than folding it into a lump sum. On a multi-day job it is a small share of the total, which is precisely why those jobs work from here and single removals do not.
