Tree Service in Pasco, WA
What pulls us into Franklin County is almost never a single tree in a front yard. It is a windbreak row that has aged out all at once, an old orchard block coming down, or a site that has to be clean before dirt work starts.

Pasco is a working town — rail yards, river freight, food processing and irrigated farm ground — and the tree work reflects that. Less about the one ornamental in the front yard, more about rows, blocks, ditch lines and property boundaries. That is also the only reason a Kelso company has any business being here: we are about four hours downriver, which rules us out for anything urgent or small, but not for a job that holds a crew and a chipper on site most of a week.
Blow Sand Does Not Hold a Root Plate
The ground out here is sandier than anything we deal with at home. North and west of town it genuinely moves, which is a large part of why so much of the older planting is windbreak to begin with. Sand drains fast, holds very little structure, and gives a mature tree almost nothing to grip when a gust front comes across the basin in August.
It changes stump work too. Grinding in sand goes quickly and the spoil backfills clean, but root flares tend to run shallower and further out than the trunk suggests, so the ground you disturb spreads wider than most people picture. Worth knowing before a fence line or a curb goes in tight against it.
Rows, Not Individual Trees
Hybrid and Lombardy poplar, Russian olive, black locust, Siberian elm, mulberry and tree of heaven make up most of the working vocabulary here, and most of it went in as a line rather than as a specimen. Poplar especially was planted for speed, and it delivers speed at both ends — fast up, fast down, brittle in the middle.
A failing windbreak tends to fail as a unit, because every tree in it is the same age, the same species and the same exposure. Pulling half a row and leaving the rest usually just transfers the wind load onto trees that were never edge trees and were never built to be. We would rather talk about the whole line than sell you six out of twenty.

Farm Ground Turning Into Rooftops
West Pasco has been converting irrigated ground into subdivisions for years now, out along Road 68 and Road 100 and into Broadmoor. That conversion produces a very particular job: old orchard blocks, shelterbelts planted when the ground was still in production, volunteer Russian olive down the ditch lines, and a lot of stumps that have to be gone before anyone pours concrete.
Clearing on a deadline is work we understand, and it is one of the few categories where being from out of the area is genuinely beside the point. A general contractor cares that the ground is clean by a date. Our zip code is not on his critical path.
One thing to settle early on any of it: where the wood goes. A full row of poplar produces more material than people expect, and whether it gets chipped on site, hauled off, or left in decks for somebody with a use for it changes the price more than the felling does. Decide that before the saws start, not after.
