Tree Service in Bothell, WA
Our shop sits on Mt Pleasant Road in Kelso, and Bothell is close to three hours north of it. We make that drive for scope — a plat-line screen of firs coming out at once, a site that has to be clear before framing starts, a property manager holding a list of trees longer than one visit can cover.

Bothell is one of the few cities in Washington that has to keep two counties straight. The city limits cross the King–Snohomish line, and so do the neighborhoods, the service providers and a fair share of the paperwork. The tree does not care about any of that. Everything downstream of the tree does.
The other thing worth saying plainly is where our trucks come from. They leave Cowlitz County, close to three hours down I-5, and that approach only pencils out when the work runs several days or needs equipment most residential outfits do not keep parked out back.
The Firs Left Standing When the Plat Was Cleared
Most of the housing on the Bothell hillsides was cut out of second-growth forest, and the pattern was nearly always the same: clear the building envelopes, leave a strip of Douglas fir along the property lines, the greenbelt tracts and the detention ponds. Those trees grew up inside a closed stand. They are tall, small-crowned, and they spent their entire lives sheltered by neighbors that are no longer standing.
Isolate a tree like that and you hand it a load it never grew for. The root plate is sized for a forest floor rather than a clearing, and the first hard southwesterly after a saturated week tends to find them in groups instead of one at a time. Ownership is the other complication: buffer firs sit on the line, over a fence, sometimes inside an association tract nobody has looked at in years.
Valley Floor and Hillside Are Two Different Jobs
The Sammamish River and North Creek run through flat ground that was farmed long before it was office park, and the soil down there is deep, fine and slow to drain. Cottonwood and alder love it, grow fast in it and fail messily out of it. Climb toward Norway Hill, Westhill or the grades above Canyon Park and the ground changes completely — glacial till with hardpan close to the surface, cut into benches for houses, with roots running sideways because there is nowhere else to go.
- Valley-floor sites: room to stage, chip and load, usually with a straight shot to the road
- Hillside lots: single-lane driveways, tight turns and backyard-locked trees where a crane is the only clean answer
- Greenbelt and detention tracts: no vehicle access at all, so the wood comes out by rope and by hand
- Wet ground along North Creek and the Sammamish: critical-area rules, plus equipment that will sink if you guess wrong
Most of Our Bothell Work Has a Contract Behind It
The jobs that justify the drive usually have a manager, a builder or a board on the other end: a full buffer strip coming out at once, a parcel that has to be clear before framing starts, or a crane day covering three locked backyards in a row. On work like that the distance stops being the deciding factor — the crew and the equipment are.
One last thing before anyone quotes you, us included. Bothell regulates tree work on private property, the requirements are not identical on both sides of the county line, and critical-area rules stack on top of that near North Creek and the Sammamish. Those rules get revised, so confirm what applies to your parcel with the city first. Then let us walk it before we price it — access and staging decide what a job like this costs, and neither shows up in an email.
