Tree Service in North Bend, WA
North Bend sits where three forks of the Snoqualmie come together under Mount Si, and it gets weather to match — some of the heaviest rain in King County falling on ground that was logged, replanted, and then subdivided. We work here on planned jobs booked well ahead, and our shop is three hours south in Kelso.

Most of what North Bend needs from a tree company, North Bend already has. There are capable outfits in the valley and over the hill in Issaquah, and on a single removal or a round of pruning they will beat us on price and on how soon they can be in your driveway.
What pulls us up I-90 is scope. A hillside of second-growth fir coming out behind a new house, a building lot that has to be cleared and hauled before framing starts, a crane pick over a roof nobody can reach from the ground. Work like that is measured in days and equipment rather than miles, and it is the only situation where hiring a Cowlitz County company makes sense for you.
Wet Ground and Wide Root Plates
The valley catches the wet end of everything. Air moving in off the Sound stacks up against the mountain wall behind town and unloads, and the floor of the valley is a deep bed of gravel and silt that the South and Middle Forks have been rearranging for a very long time. Roots in that ground have no reason to go down. They spread wide and shallow, because the water is always right there.
That arrangement works until it does not. Take a February when the soil has been saturated for weeks, add a hard east wind funneling down out of the pass, and a root plate that held fine for forty years lifts as one slab. The tree does not break — it tips, with the lawn still attached. Black cottonwood and red alder along the river bottoms are the usual candidates, and cottonwood in particular sheds heavy limbs in dead calm weather, not only in storms.
Nobody Laid Out These Driveways for a Chip Truck
Access decides more North Bend bids than tree size does. Lots run long and narrow off the old highway, driveways climb, and out toward the Middle Fork the ground on a wet week will not carry a loaded truck at all. Set-up matters more here than in most places, and it is the reason a photo is never enough to price a job.
- Long private drives with soft shoulders and nowhere to turn a chip truck around
- Rear lots where the only line to the tree runs over a roof or a shared fence
- Slope behind the house steep enough that the wood has to come uphill instead of down
- Riverbank trees standing on scoured, undercut root plates you cannot park equipment near
- Enough merchantable fir that the wood needs a log truck rather than a chipper
Overlays Come Before Estimates
A lot of ground around here carries something recorded on it: shoreline along the forks, wetland and stream buffers, steep-slope critical areas, or notes on the plat that came with the subdivision. Whether a removal is straightforward or a small paperwork project depends on which of those your parcel falls under, and jurisdiction shifts between the city and unincorporated King County. Those rules also change over time. Confirm what applies to your address before anyone, us included, quotes you a number.
On a job that size, nobody writes a number until somebody has stood under the tree and looked at where the truck is going to park. If the trip does not add up for what you actually have, you will hear it on the first phone call rather than two weeks later.
