Tree Service in Bremerton, WA

Bremerton built most of its housing in a hurry on small lots around the shipyard, and then let eighty-odd years of Douglas fir and western red cedar grow up through it. Big trees, little yards, narrow streets — that is what actually defines the work here.

Nothing about a Bremerton removal is unusual as a piece of cutting. What makes it a specialist job is everything around the tree.

There Is No Drop Zone Anywhere in the Old Grid

In Manette, Charleston, Navy Yard City and the older streets of East Bremerton, a mature fir typically has a house on one side, a fence and the neighbor’s roof on the other, an alley behind it, and a service drop running through the crown. Nothing is coming down in one piece. Every stem gets sectioned and lowered on rope, or picked apart by a crane set up in the street, and which of those two you get usually comes down to whether there is anywhere legal to park.

The hill streets above the Narrows make that harder again — steep grades, curb parking full, and turns a chip truck has to think about. A crane setup that is routine on a half-acre in Thurston County becomes a staging problem here. It is entirely doable, but it has to be planned rather than discovered on the morning of the job.

Ivy and Holly Are Costing People More Than They Realize

Walk any older block in this town and you will find firs with English ivy grown twenty feet up the stem and holly seedlings filling every fence line and gully bottom. Ivy is not a passenger. It hides the defects you would otherwise see on the bark, it holds moisture against the trunk, and it adds a permanent evergreen sail high on a tree that is already tall for its diameter — which is exactly the wrong weight in a January southerly.

Holly is the slower version of the same bill. It takes over an understory, it makes brush clearing genuinely miserable, and it comes back from anything you leave in the ground. Neither one is an emergency and both are cheap to handle early. Severing ivy at the base and clearing a band of clean stem is an afternoon of work. Removing the tree it eventually kills is not.

The Gullies Draining to Sinclair Inlet

Bremerton is cut through by ravines running down to Sinclair Inlet and Port Washington Narrows, and a surprising number of properties simply end at the top of one. Those slopes carry madrone, fir and maple leaning hard out toward the light over the water. The leaners are what people call about first, and they are frequently the most stable things on the bank — a tree that has grown into that lean over decades has built wood to hold it, while the upright one behind it with a rotted butt has not.

Slope, saltwater exposure and shoreline or critical-area regulation all land on those parcels at once, and the rules are not the same inside the city as outside it and do change over time. Verify what applies to your address before you plan a removal, whoever you end up hiring.

What Brings Us Around the Narrows Bridge

  • Crane picks on tight urban lots where rigging alone will not clear the structures
  • Several removals booked together on one property or one street
  • Clearing overgrown parcels, ivy, holly and blackberry ahead of building or sale
  • Contracted work for commercial sites, property managers and associations
  • Written assessments where an owner needs documentation rather than an opinion

If what you have is one limb over a garage, hire someone in Kitsap. You will get a faster answer and a better price, and we would rather tell you that on the phone than drive four hours round trip to hand you a number you should not accept.

Nine times out of ten in Bremerton the price is set by where the truck can park and what the rigging has to clear, not by the tree itself. That is why we look at it in person and why we will not throw a number at a photo.

Bremerton Tree Service Questions

  • Usually, with planning. Narrow streets, parked cars, grade and overhead lines all get worked out before the day rather than on it, and sometimes the answer is technical rigging from the tree instead. That is the whole reason the estimate happens in person. Photos never show where the outriggers go, and that is the detail the job turns on.

Ryan was so fantastic! We had a large pine branch fall on top of our house that was lodged into the roof. After calling a few other services who were not very helpful we got ahold of Columbia Tree Prof. He answered right away and was very kind and helpful! He knew exactly what to do to help us and he was able to remove the branch within the hour! We are so thankful for his help and his generosity! We have two trees on our property that will need to be removed and we will definitely be giving our business to this company! Local, Efficient, professional, knowledgeable, Skilled. Can’t go wrong!

Mr Norris removed a huge fir tree inches away from my house in one day just as he promised. If you have a hazardous tree requiring fancy rope work and want a professional this tree service is the right pick. Really funny guy, he became a good friend and his pricing beat everyone else by a lot. Do yourself a favor and give him a call
